According to an article posted by the New York Times, "education is a stumbling block in Brazil's bid to accelerate its economy and establish itself as one of the world’s most powerful nations." This however is no real news-flash. The World Bank concluded in a 2008 report that, "the current state of education in Brazil means it is likely to fall behind other developing economies in the search for new investment and economic growth." One person greatly responsible for Brazil's economic stability and sustained growth for instance, president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, is probably the nation's least educated president ever. Hopefully, whoever Lula hands over the baton to in the upcoming elections will do a better job in this regard while sprinting toward his finish-line.
